The desert was a harsh, cruel place, a barren wasteland full of sand, stone and heat, beaten relentlessly into submission by the blinding sun, day after day after day. Relief from the heat came in two forms: water and shade, and both were scarce in this place. The desert could easily kill anyone who was not prepared to face its callous indifference.
Sultana, however, was a child of the desert. She had been born with the power to thrive under its tyranny, and had grown up with the knowledge and skills she needed.
She had come a long way since the days of her kithood. Now the sand cat led a comfortable and solitary life in a comfortable and solitary den in the middle of the rocky stretch of Terraka, miles from anywhere of significance, where no one would find her or bother her or harm her. The only other creatures out there were her prey: lizards, mice, locusts, the like.
This evening, as most, her den was full of the sound of her growling stomach as she waited for dusk to fall. She sat at the entrance, overlooking the expanse of land she inhabited. Its was beautiful, in its own way. Unforgiving, but to those who had the will and ability, home.
Finally the sun set, and Sultana stirred. She stood and stretched, and padded silently into the desert, following the distant sound of crickets chirping.

Until dusk had once again come to the desert, she had found suitable shade to rest in until night came. There wasn't much shade in her resting place but it was enough to shield her from the searing heat. Being a nocturnal creature she only flew at night, it got really cold in the desert at night but, to her, it was better than baking in the sun during the day.
Senka was roosting in her resting place and licking at her wings and fur as she watched the sun get lower and lower in the sky. She finally left her resting place once the light in the desert got darker and the air started to get cooler. As she flew high above the sand, stones and dried plants she thought about what she could do that night.
She could see what she could steal from other territories; it was amusing to her to see how easily one could maneuver through someone elses land without being noticed, of course it wasn't funny when she would sometimes get caught. That wouldn't stop her from stealing when she was hungry enough through.
She could see movement ahead and below her. Sultana, Senka believed the cat's name to be, was out and about in the night as well. That didn't surprise the bat very much.
Senka flew lower, only about a foot or two above her head. Low enough to be noticed but not enough to be swiped out of the air. The bat choose to roost on a tree branch and watch the sand cat to see what she would do. ((Sorry if it's not very good. This is my first time roleplaying something other than a cat or dog.))
