Thick white fur blended in well with the fallen snow around the Arlen River, though the same could not quite be said for the large figure making it's way towards the river. The water was icy and would, one imagined, be frozen if not for the speedy rushing of the water crashing into any ice that tried to form.
With a heavy, proud gait, the bulk approached the river bank. Turning its head from side to side, it sat down, lowering its neck to lap the cool water up.
The lioness flicked her ears forward, the cool water both refreshing and painful on her tongue.
Known to many as Yiin, the white lioness, despite her ranking, was not all she seemed to be.
Perhaps the only animal the lioness didn't fall in love with as a young animal would be fish, due to them being the only available meal.
Though her coat was rare in colour, her eyes were just as bad; a bright, bold pink. She was, to say the least, abnormal.
Breathing a sigh, she lifted her head and shook herself before standing up, emitting a low growl as a warning. The river was covered with the scents of animals; many of them, male animals. The disgusting scent was overwhelming to the lioness.
She moved closer to the river once sure she was alone and crouched, rigid, next to the flowing water.
Her body was still, aside from her tail, the tip twitching every so often, the white tuft flicking to and fro in a rhythmic motion.
Narrowing her eyes, she shuffled her haunches and continued to wait for a glimmer of light in her eye, as fish were difficult to scent among the water.
There it was. Silvery scales lit up the winter scene. Yiin lashed a paw out, claws extended, and hooked the fish onto the ground, killing it swiftly.
"Now if only I had some lovely baby animals with me to share this kill," Yiin purred, "my life would be perfect."
The likeliness of this happening, however, was low. Especially finding one unaccompanied by the annoyances known as males.
'Whatever idiot created those beasts needs a swift bite to the neck. Not soft, either.'
Holding the fish still with one paw, she began to use her teeth to rip the scales away from the body, exposing the delicious flesh beneath.
The inviting, warm smell of blood filled the air as she did so, and had she been able to do so, she would likely have been drooling. Though, as her mouth was filled with scales, this was impossible.
Reaching down, the white lioness began to tear at the exposed flesh, teeth ripping away at the innards.
She was careful to eat around the bones, or remove them if necessary.
Her body tensed slightly, and she again glanced around in case some male approached her, before finishing her meal and taking a few steps away.
Yiin lay down, rolling onto her back and closed her eyes, thoughts of tiny baby animals filling her mind; if only her hoard could be here, now...
Oh, how she longed for that.
Baby deer, horses, felines, canines; she cared not for the species, but for the lovely adorable creatures that they were. Heck, she'd happily raid the East for theirs if she could be bothered dealing with yet another set of males.
Which, of course, she could not.
