They all ate quietly. Flake delicately licked his lips, his paws; buried the fish's remains in the snow like he did with the rabbit earlier. The rabbit who looked awfully like this one, actually- they all blended together into one generic fluffy species after a while, and he really couldn't be bothered to think otherwise. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched the arctic hair shuffle awkwardly, the polar bear hesitate to speak- the bear not as authoritative as he'd anticipated. Which was good, Flake didn't particularly like authority. He'd do a backflip if it'll get him somewhere, but it didn't mean he had to like sucking up to them. Authority was, after all, very stupid if they let themselves get bribed and cajoled by favors.
The polar bear finally lumbered over to Alxisc, who promptly got up and began to saunter away. His mood soured, lips curling downward in distaste as he watched the lynx's retreating form- humph. Spoiled brats, too absorbed in themselves to make conversation with 'the common folk'- it was discriminatory, it was shallow and judging, but it was how Flake worked. Respect was earned, and what measure he had for Alxisc was swiftly descending into the negatives.
"You don't say." He shrugged, taking up the polar bear's conversation. It was vague enough because he wasn't quite sure if the bear was referring to himself or Alxisc- either way, he agreed. "Some creatures are just like that, unfortunately."

He left, but not before hearing what the fox said to the bear.
"Some creatures are just like that, unfortunately."
He flinched the slightest, before stopping slowly. He really disliked it when others start to judge him by face-value. What did he do to offend the fox..? He merely went on his way, it was not as though as he wanted to leave just because he looked down on them...
His face scrunched up slightly in annoyance and confusion. Geh. It was quite obvious that the fox did not like him. Why stay when they don't like him? Letting out another sigh, he retreated into his cave, burying himself under a pile of dried leaves that he managed to salvage from the outskirts of the forest. It was hard living alone in this cold land, and he almost missed the constant bickering over food with his siblings.
Vergil smirked bitterly. They wanted to travel together, and he could have chosen to go with them, instead of being a smart-aleck and venturing out by himself. He bet that they were cuddled up together somewhere, sharing body heat so they would not freeze in the cold. And here he was, stuck in the middle of just plain, freezing ice and a pile of dried leaves. He let out a soft whine, his ears flattening. It was obvious he was rather upset.

The fluffy white bear nodded in agreement, starting to trust this fox a little more, however moving forward a bit to lay himself in front of the hare, who seemed to flinch a little. Oh well, better safe than sorry. His actions were subtle; they didn't scream 'Hey, don't pick on this hare!' but more of an obstacle that just happened to be there coincidentally. He watched as the lynx's figure began to shrink as the distance between the creatures became larger. "I wonder where he's going," the white giant murmured.

He wouldn't ever admit that Alxisc passed out of his thoughts the moment the lynx decided to walk out of his life- good for both of them, Flake reckoned, because he wanted nothing to do with that stuck-up prissy feline. He should be going too, but the polar bear and the hare made awkward audiences to a departure- so stay he did, casually stretching out in the snow and blinking placidly around at his surroundings.
The polar bear's question threw him off a little- why did anyone care where the lynx went? It was Alxisc own business, and Flake surely wouldn't want any nosy creatures to follow if he were in Alxisc position. But of course, other creatures were idiots. Flake shrugged again, with a careless flick of his tail- it was a good opportunity to get himself away from subpar company, at least.
"I can't say." (a lie; he was a pretty sharp tool if he said so himself, and that little expression shift wasn't exactly well-camouflaged against the snowscape) "Perhaps I should take leave first to see if anything's wrong?"

The lynx continued moping in his feelings, before his eyes shut, the quiet whispering of the discouraging voices in his head stopping after a moment.
-Vergil is currently asleep. Make a blizzard happen!~-
